PITTSBURGH, PA — The Pittsburgh Steelers are retaining running backs coach Eddie Faulkner, extending his contract, according to KPRc2’s Aaron Wilson.

Faulkner was one of the last offensive coaches the Steelers needed to make a decision on this offseason. The running backs coach was not guaranteed to return after taking over as interim offensive coordinator last season. Because the team hired an outside candidate, it was unknown if they would keep Faulkner.

They will now move forward with him on the staff.

During his time with the Steelers, he’s helped with the development of Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren. After taking over as interim OC, he and co-offensive coordinator Mike Sullivan lead the team to two 400-yard games, the first two since former OC Matt Canada took over.

As a running backs coach, Faulkner has contributed in three 1,000-yard seasons for Harris and two 1,000-yard running backs in Harris and Warren in 2023. Warren rushed for 784 yards and had 370 receiving yards. He and Harris combined for 12 touchdowns.
