The Pittsburgh Steelers are the odds-on favorites to land all-pro linebacker.

PITTSBURGH, PA — The Pittsburgh Steelers have turned over many stones trying to find their core at inside linebacker, and just as they found success, two injuries derailed their progress.

Now, they’re looking for other options, signing veteran Myles Jack to their practice squad, signing Mykal Walker from their practice squad to their 53-man team and then signing former Giants starter Blake Martinez to join him.

Right now, the Steelers inside linebacker room consists of Elandon Roberts, Mark Robinson, Walker and Martinez. But over at BetKentucky.com, the Steelers could be adding another star-studded veteran to the mix.

After clearing waivers following his release from the Indianapolis Colts, Shaq Leonard is officially a free agent. And the Steelers are odds-on favorites to sign him.

The Steelers have +600 odds to sign Leonard, tied with the Philadelphia Eagles. The Buffalo Bills and Chicago Bears follow with +900 odds, with the Dallas Cowboys and Houston Texans next with +1000 odds.

Leonard tallied over 100 tackles his first four years in the NFL, starting with a league-leading 163 tackles as a rookie. After winning Defensive Rookie of the Year, he went on to be named an All-Pro four times.

Last season, the star linebacker underwent multiple back surgeries, which hindered his play. This season, he’s totaled 65 tackles, but was slowly being limited with his role in Indianapolis’s defense.

Even with the Steelers new additions at inside linebacker, Leonard could be an option for them. They likely aren’t committed to Jack or Martinez just yet, and if they could land a deal to bring in an All-Pro option, they’ll likely take it.
