PITTSBURGH, PA — The Pittsburgh Steelers have found their next tight end, selecting Georgia’s Darnell Washington with the 93rd pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.

The Steelers started their draft off hot, moving up from 17 to 14 to select Georgia offensive tackle Broderick Jones. They then waited for pick 32 to select Penn State cornerback Joey Porter Jr., and came back in the second round at pick 80 to select Wisconsin defensive tackle Keeanu Benton.

They then traded down from pick 80 to 93, acquiring No. 132 as well. And with pick 93, they landed Washington.

Washington comes to the Steelers after four years at Georgia, recording 45 catches for 774 yards and three touchdowns. He’s coming off a 28-catch, 454-yard and two-touchdown season.

Head coach Mike Tomlin mentioned during the pre-draft press conference how high he was on the tight end class. The Steelers brought Washington in for a pre-draft visit, and now make him the latest addition to a room that includes Pat Freiermuth, Zach Gentry and Connor Heyward.

They still have picks 132, 241 and 251 remaining in rounds four through seven.
