PITTSBURGH, PA — The Pittsburgh Steelers currently sit at pick 17 with hopes of landing one of the top offensive tackles or cornerbacks – judging from their biggest needs. But what if they don’t believe their best choice is to stay put?

General manager Omar Khan has made it known that they are open to trading up or down in the NFL Draft, and according to one NFL Draft analyst, there has been some conversation about the Steelers moving up.

During a live stream on YouTube, EJ Snyder of the Bootleg Football Podcast said that the Steelers and Chicago Bears have had conversations about moving up to pick nine.

“Bears and Steelers are possible. They’ve talked about it. I know they’ve talked about it,” Snyder said. “It’s by no means for sure. … The most likely connect the dots moment is that Pittsburgh needs and a tackle and they go up for one because there’s one they like and they’ll be gone by the time they pick at 17.”

Snyder cautions that a lot of teams are making phone calls right now, but with Khan putting his foot on the gas with his first offseason – signing a number of big names and acquiring a pick from the Bears with the Chase Claypool trade – it shouldn’t be brushed off that the two sides have spoken.

Chicago currently sits at pick 9. No details were discussed about what it would require for the Steelers to move up, but the 17th pick and likely another high-end pick in this year’s draft will likely be the minimum.
