PITTSBURGH, PA — The Pittsburgh Steelers have agreed to a two-year deal with free agent defensive back Keanu Neal, according to his agent David Canter.

Neal comes to Pittsburgh as part of their depth, according to Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s Gerry Dulac. Assumedly, he’ll play behind Damontae Kazee and Minkah Fitzpatrick, alongside Tre Norwood and Miles Killebrew, and possibly another rookie.

Steelers Head Coach Mike Tomlin said the team was still on the hunt for another safety, and at just 27 years old, Neal appears to be their solution. While you can’t rule a safety out of their draft, the signing could sway them to approach other positions with more significance.

Neal brings a Pro Bowl, 80 games, including 61 starts, three interceptions, 473 tackles, 21 tackles for loss, and eight forced fumbles to the Steelers roster.

The former first-round pick for the Atlanta Falcons spent his first five seasons there before spending a year with the Dallas Cowboys and last season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
