There are rumors that the Green Bay Packers are interested in trading for wide receiver Chase Claypool.

It has been an interesting career thus far for  Pittsburgh Steelers  wide receiver,  Chase Claypool . Following his rookie season, many within the organization, the city and around the league thought he might become a superstar as he drew comparisons to Hall of Famer wide receiver, Calvin Johnson at the NFL Combine in 2020. He didn’t live up to the hype in his second year, but is currently coming off his best game of the season in 2022 in a 20-18 win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. There are several rumors of Claypool being on the trading block ahead of the November 1st trade deadline and one team in particular is apparently ‘all in’ on him.

The real question is if first-year General Manager, Omar Khan will actually move on from the third-year player. Khan has allegedly been looking to trade him since the preseason and the  Green Bay Packers  may be the perfect partner.

Michael Balko, a sports journalist and podcast host, aired out on Twitter that Green Bay is significantly interested in Claypool. The match would make sense as Aaron Rodgers and his offense have sputtered and not had the typical firepower that we are used to seeing. The current #1 wide receiver on the depth chart is Allen Lazard and there is no doubt Claypool would immediately step into the starting lineup.

The wideout has 23 catches catches for 225 yards and a touchdown this season. He became Pittsburgh’s first wide receiver to catch a touchdown pass in Week 6 against the Buccaneers. At 6’4″, 235 pounds, Claypool should be way more of a weapon that he has been the last two seasons. He played with a Hall of Fame quarterback in Ben Roethlisberger  his first two seasons and could potentially have a chance to play with another in Rodgers.

In terms of draft picks, the Packers have a selection in each round next April except the sixth. If Khan were to pull the trigger on this, he is likely to ask for a second or third round pick if the organization were to deal Claypool to Green Bay. Pittsburgh has holes on defense and that happens to be the most talented area of the Packers’ roster. We rarely see trades involve solely players, but it is unknown what kind of trading strategy Khan will have.
