Steelers Hire Arthur Smith as New Offensive Coordinator

PITTSBURGH, PA — The Pittsburgh Steelers have found their new offensive coordinator days after interviewing him for the position.

According to a report from NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Steelers have landed on former Atlanta Falcons head coach and Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator Arthur Smith as their new offensive coordinator.

Smith was in Pittsburgh earlier this week to interview with the Steelers and the two sides appear to have agreed to a deal soon after.

Smith, 41, spent the last three seasons with the Falcons before being relieved this offseason. Prior to Atlanta, he worked his way from quality control coach to offensive coordinator with the Tennessee Titans, spending 10 seasons with the team from 2011 to 2020.

He spent time as the offensive line coach (2013), assistant tight ends coach (2014-2015), tight ends coach (2016-2018) and eventually OC (2019-2020).

The Steelers fired former offensive coordinator Matt Canada following a Week 11 loss to the Cleveland Browns in which they scored just 10 points.
