Le’Veon Bell Wants To Play For Steelers Again Before Retiring

The former All-Pro wants one last shot with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

PITTSBURGH, PA — Le’Veon Bell wants to retire with the Pittsburgh Steelers. But before he does so, he’s hoping he gets to see some action in the black and gold one more time.

During an appearance on the Steel Here Podcast, Bell said that when he does retire from the NFL, it’ll be with the Steelers. And he hopes he’ll get some reps in a preseason game before he signs the papers.

“I never really officially retired,” Bell told Steel Here. “On the day when I do retire, it’s going to be with Pittsburgh. I’m going to try to retire with Pittsburgh. But before I do that, I might be like, ‘hey bro, let me get a couple of carries in the preseason so I can show ya’ll.'”

Bell last played in 2021, spending time with the Baltimore Ravens and Tampa Bay Buccaneers for a total of eight games. He rushed for 101 yards and two touchdowns.

Bell’s return would certainly spark some conversation in Pittsburgh. Amongst the fans, there are still many who aren’t pleased with how things ended, but also many who would welcome the All-Pro to end his career a Steeler.

After sitting out the 2018 season, turning down a contract offer and the franchise tag by the Steelers, Bell signed a four-year, $52.5 million contract with the New York Jets. He played just 34 games afterward.

During his time in Pittsburgh, Bell was a three-time All-Pro and three-time Pro Bowler.
