PITTSBURGH, PA — The Pittsburgh Steelers have a new all-time sack leader as T.J. Watt finds his way to the quarterback for the 81st-and-a-half time in his NFL career, breaking James Harrison’s record of 81.
Watt earned his 81.5 sack in the second quarter of the Steelers Week 2 game against the Cleveland Browns, dragging Deshaun Watson down just before halftime. It was his fourth sack of the season after recording three in Week 1 against the San Francisco 49ers.
The former Defensive Player of the Year broke the record just seven years into his NFL career, with no end in sight for the former first-round pick. At this point, it’s hard to imagine where he’ll end his career in sack totals, but that number should be much higher than 81.5.
Watt has accumulated four seasons with double-digit sacks and has earned five Pro Bowl appearances and three All-Pro selections in his career.
