PITTSBURGH, PA — The Pittsburgh Steelers make a splash in the 2023 NFL Draft, trading up to pick 14 with the New England Patriots and selecting Georgia left tackle Broderick Jones.
The Steelers missed out on Ohio State left tackle Paris Johnson Jr. and Illinois cornerback Devon Witherspoon with the fifth and sixth picks of the draft. Georgia defensive tackle Jalen Carter seemed to be an option as he fell to the bottom of the top 10, but the Philadelphia Eagles ended those hopes by trading from 10 to nine for the star big man.
Things started to heat up at Christian Gonzalez and Joey Porter Jr. fell out of the top 10, along with Georgia offensive tackle Broderick Jones.
With “their guy” on the board, they were done waiting, moving up from 17 to 14 with the Patriots for Jones.
The Steelers gave up picks 17 and 120 for the 14th pick.
The Steelers still have five picks remaining in the draft; 32, 49, 80, 241 and 251.
